Our journey started when we visited the remote areas of Uttarakhand where there were plenty of women struggling for their livelihoods, as they had no approach of external world because of communication and lack of education but one thing that they had was a determination towards their life and a passion to work for sustainable products (hemp fabric, hemp paper etc.) and the environment.

Our journey started when we visited the remote areas of Uttarakhand where there were plenty of women struggling for their livelihoods, as they had no approach to the external world because of communication and lack of education but one thing that they had was a determination towards their life and a passion to work for sustainable products (hemp fabric, hemp paper, etc.) and the environment.
After our deep engagement, we found that they were amazing at stitching, weaving, and working with yarns for making various cloths of sustainable fabrics. Moreover, the same happened with another group whom we met and was so moved that it catapulted in the formation of PLANET GREEN; where we are committed towards the upliftment of rural women through the sales of products made exclusively by them; and support them in enhancing their income and social standing in the process by creating sustainable market linkages.

Along with taking an eco-friendly approach through its products, Planet Green is taking an initiative to additionally train skilled rural women to bring economic relief and self-determination to empower their lives. These women based in India’s Himalayan foothills have been trained for generations in the art of production of handloom products like hemp fabric, hemp paper. however, they are yet to find a marketplace to showcase their skills.
